Thanksgiving WEEK
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!....I had so much fun this thanksgiving. I don’t think I’ve ever had this much fun for thanksgiving. Actually I don’t think I’ve had this much fun in a very long time. I normally don’t go out to clubs, parties, or basically anything that doesn’t involve studying. But this year I went house hopping and brought home maybe 3 or 4 plates with all kinds of foods. Me and some friends threw two house parties and invited all of our closest friends. We went to a club two nights in a row and we just stayed up all night tripping out with each other. It was so much fun. I needed a break too because I have that same routine of work, school, study all day every day. I also have a huge test coming up next month ( National Registry) and I’ve been studying so hard for it but I know my mind needed a break. But I hope all of you had as much of a fun time as I did. I’m still excited about how much fun I had.

Ahhhhh . . . to be young again! No, actually I had a really great Thanksgiving as well. I got to be with three of my daughters (3 out 4 isn't bad) without the five year old granddaughter around. Wednesday, we all went to the downtown Memphis mission and since we missed helping serve the 3 pm Thanksgiving meal, we stuck around to bus tables and set up for the 5 pm meal. Then we went and had bloody Mary's and appetizers as our reward. Wednesday night we went out to a club to hear Harlan T. Bobo, local Memphis musician home for the holidays. Google him. You might like him.

Thanksgiving morning we went to the Memphis Midtown Yoga Center and did Prayer/Meditation of 108 "sun salutations" in 4 sets of 27, the first for self transformation, the second for family, friends and community, the third for the planet earth, and the fourth for the source of all life, God. Man, were we sore the next day. So, we had to go back for "Restorative Yoga."
Fasted until evening Thurs and then had a lovely dinner of squash soup, stuffing, pomegranate/cranberry sauce, homemade bread, salad and sweet potato pie. Stayed home and played scrabble and apples to apples with us four girls and the youngest ones boyfriend.
Friday night was "girls night out" for my oldest daughter because her daughter (the five year old) would be back Saturday afternoon. One daughter already left for K.C. and one was working, so Shiloh and I went out to hear some female singers at a local coffeehouse where they also serve beer. Oh, what a mistake! The first two singers sent my daughter outside crying. They had beautiful voices, but all they sang were songs about serial killers and lost lovers. Boo-hoo. See the reason my five year old granddaughter was not with us is because her Dad was getting re-married . . . and she was part of the wedding.
Well, we had to get outta' there, so we went downtown to the "Rhumba Room" to dance.
I cannot say my Thanksgiving was the most fun I ever had, but it was very blessed and parts of it were great fun.
It sounds like you got the break you needed!
Hello Charity,
ReplyDeleteIt must have been wonderful just to enjoy the fun things in life once again.
I also had the opportunity to go house hopping, The Sunday prior to Thanksgiving we had dinner with my biological son and his family, Tuesday prior, we went to my middle daughters home for dinner, and then Thanksgiving day we spent it with my husbands family...Friday, we had our own dinner, here at the house. So yes, we had our fill of Turkey, Ham, and all the wonderful trimmings.-
My oldest daughter whom is in North Carolina phoned, she was preparing her first Thanksgiving dinner, (for her family and a few of their newly acquired friends). Had the chance to speak with my grandchildren (ages 3 and 19 months) so that was a Blessing in itself.
I am also doing a lot of studies, waiting for a grade for a paper which was resubmitted three times...*hoping to get a few points from it* anything would be better then a zero at this point in the game.
What are you taking your registering test in? Is this your last term for the class or what? Best of luck.
See ya around,
Madelyn Mandina
Hi, Charity! I'm glad you let yourself free from the books and work! Sometimes we need that and then we can come back to it refreshed with a clear mind! It feels good to let loose now and then and enjoy the simple things and just go out and laugh all night with our friends.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed my Thanksgiving also. I have 7 children and 5 of them were home with their friends. The boys smoked our turkey and pork on the smoker grill and I and others prepared dishes to go along with it. As always we ate too much. After dinner, the family usually plays cards and have a few... and sometimes a lot of drinks and tell stories of our times together and apart and laugh and stay up until late hours. I cherish times like this.
Good luck with your exam. You will be fine. I can tell you are a devoted and hardworking lady and it will pay off- just don't forget your "fun side"!
